First, Jeff reads stories and accounts about historic Africatown. Then, he learns about a mysterious man who appears in the cemetery and around the Union Missionary Baptist Church. Next, Jeff and his pals go to visit Africatown and the old Plateau Cemetery. What will they discover there? Will they meet the strange man? Will Jeff and his friends discover hidden secrets in an old cabin behind the old Plateau Cemetery?

Jeff and his pals solve another mystery when they visit Africatown, a place founded by slaves who came to Mobile in 1860 on the slave ship Clotilda. Jerrye says she never thought about writing mysteries as a child but knew she had a driving spirit of adventure and a fascination with the unknown. Whether it was watching horror flicks on television, reading Nancy Drew books or exploring her surroundings, the quest to solve a mystery was always there.

The Eastern Shore region of Mobile Bay, an area rich in Civil War history and small town culture, serves as a springboard for Jerrye’s first book, Intruders on Battleship Island. The Beatrice and Monroeville, AL, setting, found in The Secret Graveyard, brings to life new mysteries and secrets from the past. Mobile, Al, with its festive Mardi Gras celebration and spooky swamp setting serves as the backdrop for The Mystery of Wragg Swamp. Mound Island, located deep in the delta region of Baldwin county Al, serves as the setting for the fourth book in the series, Mystery on Mound Island. Historic Blakeley State park in Spanish Fort, Al, the site of the old town of Blakeley, Fort Blakeley, and the last Civil War battle serves as the setting for the fifth book in the series, The Ghost of Blakeley Past. The partially reconstructed site of Fort Mims located in Baldwin County, Alabama is the setting for book six, Mystery at Fort Mims. That fort is the site of one of the largest and most brutal Indian massacres in American history. Africatown, located in the Plateau area of Mobile, Al, serves as the setting for book seven, Mystery in Africatown. This community was established by former slaves who were brought to Mobile in 1860 on the slave ship, Clotilda.
