About You Will Forever Be My Always

Dan McCrory has written a novel that is sparse and raw. It is the story of Charlie Wise, asshole. He has cheated on his wife for years, forsaken his friends, and left behind a trail of broken hearts and broken people. When he discovers he has Parkinson's Disease, convinced he's dying, he tries to make amends and, in the process, write the Great American Novel. His quest for salvation takes him to a Catholic church in Bangkok and a Muslim funeral on a mountainside in Morocco looking for answers. He leaves behind the old Charlie and comes home to finish his transformation on his Texas apology tour. The novel is full of humor and tomfoolery with a gentle jab at religion, (all of them) and a cathartic experience as the author tries to cope with his own diagnosis of PD. The book is called You Will Forever Be My Always.

About Dan McCrory

Dan McCrory

Author

Dan McCrory spent 37 years within the beast: AT&T. From poor, southern hick to clueless worker to union activist and finally to political candidate, McCrory had a ringside seat to the dismantling of a former monopoly as it transformed itself into a mean, lean machine for the 21st century. How did we get here? What does the future look like for working families? What can we do to prepare ourselves?

Besides his book, Capitalism Killed the Middle Class, Dan has written for the glamorous telecom industry, represented actor Cliff Robertson as a Hollywood publicist, cranked out political propaganda and advertising copy (yes, there is a difference), and has edited a couple of books. He’s currently romancing Hollywood and has just finished his Great American Novel, You Will Forever Be My Always, which received an award at the Los Angeles Book Festival. He lives in Southern California.

Inside the Book

Parkinson's Disease affects folks in highly individualized ways. There are commonalities: it almost always starts with a twitch, an involuntary action that happens when you're not paying attention. Then come the falls, the dementia, the hallucinations (in some). I heightened certain things for either dramatic or comedic effect. Memory issues are also part of the PD experience and the character and I share the trait of forgetting to take our meds. I have an alarm on my phone to remind me and my 3 year=old granddaughter says, "Take your meds, Papa!"
